Carolyn Joan Evans
Carolyn Joan Evans, 80, Rochester, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 14, 1936 in Marion, the daughter of Byron E. and Priscilla Merle (Blacketor) Ginn. On June 5, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, she married Larry Evans.
Carolyn had worked for over thirty one years at the former Foley’s Jewelers in downtown Rochester. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church, a dedicated volunteer for the United Ministries Food Pantry and had also been a Girl Scout Leader for many years. In her leisure time she and her husband Larry enjoyed traveling all over the world visiting forty different countries.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Evans, Rochester; children: Lynn and husband Joe Williams, Rochester; Brent and wife Catherine Evans, Plymouth; Brenda and husband Steve Christian, Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren: Cole Christian, Fayetteville, N.C.; Etta Evans, Porter Evans and Everly Evans, all of Plymouth; step-grandchildren, Kiel and Nic Williams, both of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carrie A. Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Ministries Food Pantry, First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
