
MILFORD — The following events will take place at the Milford Public Library:
HEALTHY CROCKPOT COOKING
Come to the library for a free healthy crockpot cooking class at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27. In this one-hour lesson, you will learn how to select an appropriately sized slow cooker, slow cooker settings, food safety, preparing freezer meals and tips and tricks for different types of foods you might use in the slow cooker. Retired teacher Judy Egolf will give away free samples, recipes and door prizes. Please call (574) 658-4312 to reserve your spot. This event is open to the public.
WINTER STORY TIME
Get ready to dance with Miss Julie at this week’s winter story time. Join at the library as they have a “Winter Waltz,” listen to stories, and enjoy a yummy snack. Sessions are 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays 7 p.m. Give the library a call at (574) 658-4312 if you plan to come.
LEARN NEW SKILLS WITH THE KNITTING CLUB
Learn new skills with knitting club members at 1:30 p.m. March 3 and 17. It’s the perfect way to meet others interested in the craft as you knit a new project. Beginners are always welcome. This event is free and open to the public and meets in the teen area upstairs.
TAX FORMS AVAILABLE FOR FREE
State and Federal tax forms are available at the library and are located in the hallway leading to the adult department. Remember, taxes are due Tuesday, April 18. You can print other tax forms for free at the library if needed.
PICK UP FREE CHILDREN’S CRAFTS AT THE LIBRARY
Stop in the library to pick up free children’s crafts in the children’s department downstairs. While you’re in, be sure to check out audiobooks or CDs to listen to as the kids complete their craft.
JANE AUSTEN 200TH ANNIVERSARY
Celebrate Jane Austen’s legacy and contribution to literature by checking out her works from Milford Public Library. As one of the most well-known writers in history, Austen provided social commentary on romance and moralism through her six novels. Her work has inspired movie adaptations including “Pride and Prejudice” and “Sense and Sensibility”, as well as “Becoming Jane”, which is based on her life. All these movies are available for checkout at the library. July 18, marks the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death.
