DUNLAP – In yet another super fast sectional, Brady Robinson made the cut in the individual medley as the lone Wawasee swimmer to break through at Saturday’s Concord Boys Swimming Sectional.

Robinson made the state cut with a 1:52.54 despite placing third in the event. Northridge’s Spencer Lehman won the race at 1:50.94 and Concord’s Kallaghan Findley would take second at 1:52.27. The cut time for the IM was 1:55.14.

Robinson nearly missed reaching state in his other individual event, placing second to Nathan Bourne of Angola in the butterfly. Bourne posted a 52.26 for the victory and the automatic ticket to Indy, Robinson’s 52.72 likely not fast enough with the state cut at 51.39.

Wawasee had just one other individual swimming in championship finals, that being Jared Krugman in the 200 and 500 freestyles. Krugman was fourth in the 200 with a lifetime best of 1:46.43, an event won by Northridge’s Bryce Brouillette at 1:42.93. In the 500, Lehman was king again in his defense of his state title with a 4:32.57, Krugman taking fifth with another lifetime best of 4:50.93, taking almost 10 seconds off his personal best coming into the sectional weekend. The 500 had Northridge’s Connor Glenn earn a state cut ticket with his 4:40.20.

Wawasee was fourth in the 200 free relay (1:33.42), fourth in the 400 free relay (3:22.14) and sixth in the medley relay (1:35.58).

Northridge maintained its team title streak by winning No. 15 in a row, scoring 515.5 points to rout runner-up Concord’s 360. Elkhart Central was third at 271.5 and Wawasee fourth at 246.

The Raiders won the medley relay (1:35.58), the 200 relay (1:26.51) and the 400 relay (3:09.98) and had titles from Camden Koch in the backstroke (52.31) and a tie from both Matt Vancoppenolle and Brouillette in the 100 with identical 47.68 winners.

Bourne won the 50 at 21.75, Elkhart Central’s Logan Brown dominated diving with a 483.45 and Findley won the breaststroke at 57.92. Concord’s 200 free relay team made the state cut at 1:27.80.

Making the diving regional at Mishawaka this coming Tuesday are Brown, Austin Leas of Concord (409.35), Caden Jenkins of NorthWood (311.60) and Terik Jenkins of Northridge (310.30).
