
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for strangling his girlfriend.
Jeffrey Allen Brown, 32, 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, is being charged with strangulation, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; two count of criminal mischief, class B misdemeanors; and domestic battery prior conviction enhancement, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 1, an officer responded to a battery complaint. When the officer arrived, he spoke to the victim of the battery. The female was upset and crying. The victim told the officer her and her boyfriend of two years, Brown, had been traveling in her mother’s vehicle.
The victim testified that Brown had been yelling at her in the vehicle. She told him she wanted to get out of the vehicle. Brown then stopped the vehicle and grabbed the victim by the collar of her shirt, making it difficult for her to breathe. The victim attempted to exit the vehicle. Each time Brown would prevent her from exiting by grabbing her by the arm.
According of the affidavit of probable cause, as a result of her struggle with Brown, the victim had multiple abrasions on the front of her left shoulder.
During the altercation, Brown made a motion with a “pick” as if her were going to stab the victim in the ribs. Brown also threatened to kill her.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the vehicle Brown was operating was registered to the victim’s’ mother. While Brown had been angry, he broke the gear shift lever on the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle is not operational.
When the victim finally exited the vehicle, Brown took possession of her iPhone and broke it by throwing it on the ground.
Brown was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 10, on a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
