Vaughn W. Atchison Sr., 66, Ligonier, passed away at 1:49 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier.

He was born on May 11, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio to Richard and Jane (Eversole) Atchison.

He graduated in 1969 from Tecumseh High School in Donnelsville, Ohio and was a United States Army veteran. He moved to Syracuse in 1973 from Springfield, Ohio and on May 12, 1973 in Pigeon Forge, Va. he married Kathy A. (Page) Huffenberger who survives. He was formerly employed at Hart Housing in Nappanee for six years, Forest River in Goshen, and was a semi driver for Snyder Trucking in Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Tanisha Atchison, Goshen; two sons Vaughn W. (Birdie) Atchison Jr., Ligonier; David Huffenberger, Cromwell; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his father, Richard Atchison, Tampa, Fla.; his half sister, Tyra Coe, Springfield, Ohio; half brother, Roger Coe, Thailand. 

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N SR 15, Warsaw. No services are planned. Private family burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse is in charge of arrangements.
