
Helen Irene Wagoner, 98, North Webster, passed away at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1919 in North Webster to Roy A. and Estella (Correll) Miller.
She was a lifetime area resident and graduated in 1937 from North Webster High School. On March 3, 1940 in Leesburg she married Mervin Woodrow “Merv” Wagoner who preceded her on Jan. 10, 1989. She was a homemaker, former manager of the Al-N-Dee Restaurant in North Webster, and former telephone operator for United Telephone in North Webster and Pierceton.
She was a member of Salem Community Church in Wilmot and a life member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 253 in North Webster.
She was survived by three daughters: Linda S. Shepherd, North Webster; Pamela J. Hopkins, Warsaw; and Carole A. Adkins, North Webster; one son, Mervin Woodrow “Woody” (Teri) Wagoner II, Washington, N.J.; nine grandhchildren: Kimberly (Richard) Owen, Mark (Lisa) Wagoner, Matthew (Terri) Wagoner, Jeffrey (Julie) Shepherd, Mitchell Wagoner, Paula (Steve) Foltz, P. Dean Hopkins, Michael (Angie) Shepherd, Dann (Brigitta) Adkins; two step granddaughters, Stephanie Kuhn and Brittany (Bill) Tishuk; 22 great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn (James) Bartley, Syracuse.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, son, Leslie LeRoy Wagoner, great grandson, Robert Allen Owen, three sisters, Jane Campbell, Mildred Cotton, and Ellen Stump, brother, Joseph Miller and three sons-in-law, Dan Shepherd, Paul Hopkins, and Don Adkins.
Visitation will be from 4–8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Owen Family Funeral Home. St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Wagoner of the First Church of God in Neon, Ky. and Pastor Gary Colby of the Salem Community Church officiating. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery.
