Northridge Basketball: Raiders Roll In Sectional

Northridge SportsGOSHEN – Northridge spotted Concord a 2-0 lead to open their sectional game Wednesday night.

From there, it was all Raiders.

No. 7 Northridge raced to a dominating 53-23 win over the Minutemen in a first-round game of the Class 4-A Goshen Sectional.

The Raiders, now 24-1, advance to play Warsaw (20-3) in the second semifinal matchup Friday night at approximately 7:30. Warsaw beat Elkhart Memorial 58-32 in the second game Wednesday night. Semifinal action begins Friday at 6 p.m. with No. 10 Penn (19-4) taking on Elkhart Central (12-9). The winners then meet in the sectional title tilt Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Raiders, who beat Concord 64-16 during the regular season, scored the game’s next 25 points after Concord made the first hoop of the night. Northridge led 34-6 at halftime en route to the win.

Marci Miller, one of four seniors, led the Raiders with 16 points. Junior Brooke McKinley added nine for Northridge.

Junior Jenica Albert and sophomore Alexa Porter each scored seven points to lead Concord.

Concord, which did not have a senior this season, finishes 4-19. The Minutemen played just one junior Wednesday night with the rest of the lineup being sophomores and freshmen.

The Raiders, who won their second straight Northern Lakes Conference championship this season at 7-0, beat Warsaw 47-43 in Middleburg in a league game on Jan. 7.
