Officials Report Fire At Vermillion County Fairgrounds ‘Suspicious’
VERMILLION COUNTY — Part of the Vermillion County Fairgrounds is destroyed after a large fire Thursday evening.
The main damage was in the grandstands.
Officials have not released a cause at this point. However, fire officials at the scene are telling News 10 that it does appear to be suspicious because no electricity was connected to the grandstands.
The fairgrounds are located on Maple Street which is just off State Road 63 in northern Vermillion County.
News 10 is told the wooden grandstands were the oldest of their kind in Indiana.
Wind gusts did create some extra concerns early on in the firefight.
Crews spent several hours on the scene and thankfully no injuries were reported.
The investigation into this fire is on-going.
