Valley Basketball: Vikings Clipped By Couriers

Tippy Valley SportsAKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team came up on the short end of a 51-43 final to Clinton Christian Saturday.

The game was tied at halftime at 25-25 before the guest outscored the Vikings 14-8 in the third quarter to take control.

Alec Craig scored 16 points to lead the way for Valley. Keith Wright netted 11 points and Jarod Duzenbery had 10 for the Vikings.

Valley, which drops to 6-10 with its fifth straight loss, shot just 9-16 from the free throw line in the game.

Nathan Stutzman had 16 points and 17 rebounds to pace Clinton Christian, which improves to 14-1 on the year. The Couriers, who hit six treys in the game to just two for Valley, are now 5-1 versus IHSAA teams.

Benson Yoder chipped in with 11 points for the winners.

Valley coach Bill Patrick is still tied with Pat Rady at No. 2 on the state’s all-time career wins list. Patrick is 761-315 in his 48th season overall. Jack Butcher is No. 1 in state history with 806 wins.

Valley won the junior varsity game 51-23 Saturday.

Valley plays at Manchester Friday night in a conference game. Clinton Christian plays at Horizon Christian in Fort Wayne on Monday night.
