NorthWood Basketball: Trenshaws Pace Victory
GOSHEN – A double dose of Trenshaws carried the NorthWood girls basketball team past host Goshen Saturday night.
Sisters Taitlyn and Neely Trenshaw each scored 11 points as the Panthers bested the hosts 41-29 in a Northern Lakes Conference game.
NorthWood led 10-3 after the opening period and 16-13 at halftime. The Panthers then outscored Goshen 25-16 in the final half.
Savannah Feenstra added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers. Taitlyn Trenshaw had nine rebounds for the winners.
NorthWood improves to 15-7 overall and moves to 4-2 in the NLC. The Panthers are tied with Warsaw and Elkhart Memorial in second place in the league standings. Northridge clinched the NLC championship Friday night with a win over Memorial. The Raiders, who have won the league the past two seasons, are 6-0 in conference play.
NorthWood won the junior varsity game 38-31. Emily Demitruk led the winners with 11 points. Kate Rulli scored 10 points and Karlie Fielstra nine for NorthWood, which improved to 16-4.
NorthWood plays at Oregon-Davis Tuesday night and hosts Warsaw Thursday night to wrap up the regular season. Goshen, which is now 8-13 overall and 1-5 in the NLC, hosts Memorial Friday night.
