LCA Basketball: Unbeaten Argos Tops Cougars

WINONA LAKE – The Argos girls basketball team lived up to its lofty ranking Saturday night.

The undefeated Dragons, who are ranked No. 3 in Class 1-A, used a fast start to defeat host Lakeland Christian Academy by a 58-30 final.

Argos rolled to an 18-2 lead after the opening quarter and led 30-11 at halftime en route to its 16th win of the season. The Dragons are coached by former Tippecanoe Valley girls coach Gary Teel.

Anna Reimink led the offense for LCA with 11 points. Hope Fancil added nine points for the Cougars.

The duo of Jess Slone and Heather Plastow each scored four points and Brady Gross two for LCA, which drops to 7-8. Slone had nine rebounds, while Melissa Goss had five and Reimink four.

Senior standout Courtney Dunlap tossed in a game-high 23 points to pace the Dragons.

Argos won the junior varsity game by a 44-9 final.

LCA hosts Cornerstone Christian Tuesday night. Argos plays at Oregon-Davis on Thursday evening.
