LAGRANGE – After a lifetime thrill of playing in the Hall of Fame Classic Thursday, the Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team was afforded another chance for tournament supremacy Friday at the Lakeland Tournament. Valley didn’t waste the opportunity, repeating as tournament champs. Anne Secrest also set a school record among the action.

Valley steamrolled Lakeland 54-26 in its morning game while West Noble rallied to top Concord 63-50 in its morning session. Kaylie Warble led the Chargers with 14 points, Chandyn Redmond 18 for the Minutemen. Olivia Trippiedi scored nine points and had three steals for the Vikings against the Lakers.

In the championship between West Noble and Valley, the Vikings opened with a 10-0 run and then scored the first seven points of the second quarter to stun the Chargers. A 15-4 run in the second quarter sent the Vikings to the title, its third in three years at Lakeland and the third time Valley has beaten Lakeland and West Noble in succession.

Secrest scored 18 points for Valley (13-3) in the West Noble win, with Meredith Brouyette and Hannah Dunn each scoring eight points. With her ninth point in the Lakeland game, Anne Secrest moved past Rebekah Parker as the school’s all-time leading scorer. Her output in the West Noble game gives her 1,437 points in her career. Parker, who was an Indiana All-Star, finished her illustrious career with 1,418 points.

Lakeland beat Concord 47-45 in the night consolation game. Tanner Metcalf had 15 points for Lakeland, Sydney Simon had 11 for Concord.

Tippecanoe Valley split its two games Thursday at the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle, losing to North Harrison and beating Plainfield.

Valley will return to game action Jan. 5 in a Three Rivers Conference showdown with Northfield. The Norse are 10-4 overall, but 5-0 in the TRC, Valley currently 3-0 in TRC play. Whitko is also 3-0 in TRC action.
