Yvonne “Melanie” (Freel) Ottenhausen, 53, Warsaw, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.

She was born Aug. 15, 1963 to Herbert and Martha (Parrish) Freel in Bartow, Fla. On June 30, 2007 she was united in marriage to David Ottenhausen in Lakeland, Fla.

Melanie has lived the majority of her life in Warsaw. She earned an Associate’s Degree. She was a Dietary Manager for Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, cooking and music.

She is survived by her husband, David Ottenhausen of Warsaw; her two daughters: Chelsea Nette and Kaleena “Kalee” (and spouse Blake) Bays, both of Warsaw; her sisters: Catrina Freel of Bolingbrook, Ill.; and Wendy Cox of Warsaw; her mother, Martha Freel of Warsaw; and Melanie’s beloved dog, “REO.” She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Herbert Freel, a daughter, Adrianna Nette and a sister, Angela Freel.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, Warsaw with Pastor David Cripe Officiating.

Burial will be private.
