WARSAW — Warsaw Community Public Library offers many ways to try something new for the new year.

Join Friends of the Library for the monthly meeting from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.

A representative from Ivy Tech will be on hand from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to outline adult education opportunities.

Chess Club resumes from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 7. Bring your own chess board if you have one.

A new Scrabble Club begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7. Bring a Scrabble game if you have one. This club meets the first and third Saturdays.

A Super Smash Brothers Tournament is set for 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, in place of the regular Drop-In Zone. Get help with computer and technology questions from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Off the Shelf Reading Group discusses John Grisham’s “Skipping Christmas” from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5. Cookbook Club dishes up “one-dish meals” from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9.

Learn to knit with the Knit and Purl Club from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9.

Writers Club meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9. Topics are dancing snowmen, resolutions and reminiscing about 2016.

David Kolbe of Warsaw presents, “The Rise of Fascism in Europe in the 20th Century,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Try your hand at a make-it, take-it fleece snowman between 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. Register by Monday, Jan. 9.

Take up quilting with the Lake City Piecemakers from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

A board game club begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, focusing on lesser-known games. Bring your own. This club meets the second and fourth Saturdays.

Join Hooked on Crochet from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Learn stress relief through art as Melodie Koher, Lakeland Art Association, leads a zentangle program from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. Cost is $10.

Registered dietician Sue Delagrange, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, will present, “Souper Bowl,” from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19. She will introduce quick, easy, healthy soup recipes.

Madisson Heinl and Eric Totheroh, Center Street Community Theater, will give a crash course in improv acting. The session is from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23.

Brush up with Creative Canvas, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. This month’s painting is a snowman. Cost is $18 and registration is required.

Faith Ketterer will lead her monthly card making class from 6-7:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30. Cost is $4 at registration and an additional $4 at the time of class.
