The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has received a couple of 911 calls over the past two days of vehicles with the accelerator stuck. The callers have been unable to stop the vehicle.

If you find yourself in a situation with the engine racing and you are unable to stop your vehicle, follow these instructions. Place the vehicle in neutral, depress the brake and come to a complete stop. Once the vehicle has come to a complete stop, turn the vehicle off.

Do not turn the vehicle off until the vehicle is stopped. Doing so will disable your power steering and power brakes and may lock the steering wheel. Please do not drive the vehicle again until it has been checked by a mechanic.
