KOSCIUSKO COUNTY —For thirteen years, a group from the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and other community members, calling themselves the Wheels on Fire Team, have worked together to help individuals who are fighting cancer. They have offered financial support, encouragement and care to those they serve who are fighting the good fight.

This year the team decided to direct their many fundraising efforts to benefit the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County and the Fulton County Cancer Fund. Beginning with a Valentine’s Lunch in February, the group also hosted lunches at the Akron Community Center and a luncheon for Plow Days for the Echoes of the Past Tractor Club. In April they sponsored a skeet shoot called Clays for Cancer and in July they coordinated a trip to a Fort Wayne Tin Caps game.

They ended the year with the Smash Out Cancer Day at the Akron Community Center. The day offered many activities and food vendors as the entire community came together to encourage and celebrate with survivors and to honor those who have lost the battle.

The Wheels on Fire Team has put forth a great deal of prayer, planning, and energy to raise these funds. The team would like to offer their appreciation and thanks to their families, friends, church members, and the community who have joined them for these events.

The Team is thrilled to present $5,000 to the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County.
