BUCKEYE, ARIZ. — Many of us have probably had a high utility bill at some point in our lives, but not as high as one Arizona man.
Jerry Bryant received a more than $400,000 water bill.
According to the bill, the home went through 26 million gallons of water in one billing cycle, which is enough water to fill 40 Olympic size swimming pools.
Family members say no one really lives at the home because the owner is there only a couple of times a month.
The owner’s son says his father has been so conscious in conserving water, that nine trees on his property have died.
The family is wondering why no one is paying attention to the shockingly high bills.
“Somebody should have caught the fact that a half million dollar bill went out of their office to a consumer,” said Dan Bryant, the homeowner’s son. “It should not have happened.”
A spokesperson for the city of Buckeye says they are addressing the bill.
