
Roy Wolford, 83, Tiosa, passed away on December 11, 2016 at the Hospice House of South Bend.
On Sept. 6, 1933, in Tiosa, Roy was born. His proud parents were George Leroy and Maryanna Charlotte Brierley Wolford. Growing up he shared his childhood with five sisters: Elsie , Dorothy Faye, Mae and Liale. With great wildcat pride Roy graduated in 1951 from Richland Center High School. A powerful memory Roy often talked about was the WIldcat’s trip to basketball’s Sweet 16 in 1950. He also shared many memories of his class trip to Cuba. Patriotism beckoned and Roy answered the call serving with the United States Army during the Korean War. Roy was a member of the 4th Armored Division.
In North Liberty on Nov. 27, 1959, Roy married the love of his life, Elaine Etta Baros. They became best friends. From their union came three wonderful children: Karen, Kevin and Keith. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two granddaughters.
Left to cherish Roy’s memory are his daughter, Karen Scott and husband Gary, Macy; two sons: Kevin L. Wolford and wife Deb, Plymouth; and Keith Wolford and wife Tricia, Allen, Texas; two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Amanda Wolford; two sisters: Elsie Williams and Dorothy Mahoney, both of Belmont, Calif. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceding Roy in death are his parents; beloved wife Elaine on Aug. 11, 2000, and three sisters: Liale Schwenk, Mae Thomas, and Faye Fishburn.
Military rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor’s team. Burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
