Walter Lee Stafford, 69, Warsaw, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 in his residence.

He was born July 28, 1947 to Walter Buford and Lola C. (Scott) Stafford in Double Springs, Tenn.

He was a US Army veteran serving from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.

Walter was united in marriage June 7, 1977 to Maxine Slone in Clintwood, Va.

He was a maintenance man for Prairie View Nursing Home and he also was a security guard for DePuy.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Carey, Warsaw; and a bother-in-law, Lonnie (and spouse Belinda) Slone, Clunette. He is also survived by his cat, A.J. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Maxine Stafford.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Terry Bradford Officiating. Military Honors will be also held by the American Legion Post #49, VFW Post 1126.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery Warsaw, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that the memorial contribution be made to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, P.O Box 1906, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1906

Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
