
SYRACUSE — Three Wawasee High School Robotics Club teams qualified for the state championships. Qualifying took place during a tournament hosted by Iron Pride, the WHS Robotics Club, Saturday, Nov. 19.
Team 574B “Berserker” of Jade Davidson, Madi McDonald, Sophie Miller and Ivy Rehborg made it to the finals of the tournament, but did not qualify for the state championships.
Team 574A the “Musketeers” of Conner Erlenwein, Taylor Large, Braxton Oberg, Hunter Newlin and Luke Tyler went undefeated for the day. They partnered with second place team 574E “Immortals” of Cedric Church, Joe LeCount, Tim Michaels and Abdiel Sanchez, and also 574D the “Iron Knight” of Gage Beezley, Jack Collins and Braxton Studabaker to win the tournament. Musketeers, Immortals and Iron Knight all qualified for the Indiana VEX Robotics State Championships in February 2017.
Iron Pride will be hosting another qualifying tournament from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Wawasee Middle School. Admission is free.
