LCA Basketball: Fancil Fantastic In Cougar Win

Lakeland-Christian-AcademyWINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team had a lot of hope on its side Friday night.

As in Hope Fancil.

The LCA junior had a game to remember as she led the host Cougars to a convincing 45-26 win over Culver.

Fancil poured in a game-high 27 points on the night, outscoring the entire Culver team by herself in the victory. She also had five rebounds to go with six steals and three blocked shots in an outstanding all-around performance for the hosts.

LCA led 14-4 after the opening period and 22-8 at halftime in beating the winless Cavaliers.

Jess Slone netted eight points and Anna Reimink added four for the winners. The duo of Melissa Goss and Brady Gross each had two points for the Cougars. Goss had seven rebounds and Gross six for LCA.

Courtney Slayer and Alex Temme each had eight points to lead Culver, which falls to 0-11.

LCA improves to 4-4 on the season.

Culver won the junior varsity game 37-12.

LCA hosts Hamilton Saturday at 4 p.m. Culver hosts Knox on Dec. 10.
