Triton Basketball: Pilgrims Run Past Trojans

PLYMOUTH – A hot start for Plymouth kept the Pilgrims ahead in a 60-35 win over Triton Tuesday night in boys hoops.
Plymouth took a 16-9 lead in the first quarter and never trailed in the game, extending its lead to 12 at the half and using a 22-11 blitz in the third quarter to pull away.
Nick Felke was 6-12 from the floor, hitting four three-pointers to finish with 16 points to lead the Pilgrims (3-0). Ryan Carmichael hit double digits with 10 points, while Cam Dennie had nine points and Clay Hilliard had eight points.
Grant Johnson paced Triton (0-2) with 18 points, four rebounds and five blocks, going 8-12 from the floor. Zac Pitney added six points and three rebounds.
The Plymouth JV took the opening contest by a 31-24 count. Payton Skirvin had nine points and seven rebounds for Plymouth while Ethan Berry had eight points and eight rebounds for Triton.
Plymouth plays again Friday at South Bend Adams while Triton visits NorthWood Friday night in the Panthers’ season opener.
