Triton Basketball: Bobcats Top Trojans
HAMLET – A slow start and a rough finish proved costly to Triton in a 58-42 boys basketball loss at Oregon-Davis Wednesday night.
The host Bobcats led 18-9 after the first quarter before the Trojans got within 29-20 at halftime. Triton trailed just 37-30 after the third period before being outscored 21-12 in the final frame.
Grant Johnson led the offense for the Trojans with a game-high 21 points. Johnson shot 10-12 from the field and also had five rebounds.
Zac Pitney had 12 points for Triton. The Trojans were just 2-10 from 3-point range, 6-9 from the free throw line and had 13 turnovers in the loss.
Aaron Parker led a balanced attack for OD with 20 points. Jonathan Clark scored 14 points and Trevor Risner 12 for the winners.
OD hit 13-17 from the free throw line in the contest and had just seven turnovers.
Triton won the junior varsity game 32-25. Delano Shumpert had 11 points and Ethan Berry seven to lead the winners.
Triton plays at Plymouth (1-0) Tuesday night. Oregon-Davis plays at South Central (0-1) on Dec. 2.
