NOBLE COUNTY — Multiple West Noble High School students face discipline after school officials discovered suspicious lollipops in the school on Thursday, Nov. 17.

High school administrators were alerted to the situation and contacted West Noble School Resource Officer and Noble County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Chordas to assist in identifying what exactly was found. Preliminary tests and investigation by Deputy Chordas indicated some cherry flavored lollipops were laced with marijuana.

The early indication is that the THC levels are of a higher concentration than from normal marijuana, therefore giving students the potential for a stronger “high” when consumed. Confirmatory tests will be conducted later after the lollipops are tested by the Indiana State Police Laboratory.

Deputy Chordas would like all parents to be aware of these cannabis candies because there is little noticeable difference between a normal lollipop and one laced with THC. A child could easily consume one of these without anyone realizing what it actually is. Also, anytime something is laced with chemicals there is always the potential for an adverse reaction or unintended side effect that could lead to serious health problems.
