North Webster Library News and Events
NORTH WEBSTER — There’s something hot at the North Webster Community Public Library. Sprint Mobile Hotspots are now available to check out, enabling borrowers to connect with the internet anywhere anytime on their own home computer or tablet. Supplying unlimited data, Hotspots provide a quick internet connection with no software to install and nationwide coverage via Sprint’s mobile network. These devices are great for patrons when their home internet is down or those who do not have internet service, but need to work online or complete a project. They are also handy to take on the road for a family vacation or business trip. The 3G or 4G LTE connection can be shared with up to 10 WiFi-enabled users simultaneously and supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz WiFi.
Sprint Mobile Hotspots can be checked out by North Webster Library cardholders who are at least 18 years of age. They can be borrowed for one week with no renewals. After one week, service is disabled with a $5 per day late charge. The library has three devices available for check out, and patrons can place holds on them to ensure they get a turn at borrowing them.
Ensure your spot at the library’s next Coffee and Canvas 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, by signing up at the Circulation Desk. Karla Hayden, artist and owner of the Happy Paint Brush, returns to the library to provide step-by-step instructions on creating a charming country Christmas painting to keep or give as a gift. This paint party event costs $18 and includes an 11×14 canvas, painting supplies, and refreshments. Advance registration and pre-payment is required by Dec. 1. Adults only, please.
As the holidays approach and music fills the air, Writer’s Corner will focus on writing about favorite songs. If you have a favorite song, write a composition about including why you like it and bring it to share with other writers 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21. You don’t have to be an accomplished author to participate in Writer’s Corner, just someone who likes to write and enjoys encouraging others.
If you enjoy reading, eating and discussing, R.E.A.D. (Read, Eat and Discuss) Book Club meets the third Monday each month at 5:30 p.m. This Monday, Nov. 21, the group will be discussing “The Chaperone” by Laura Moriarty while munching refreshments. Next month’s book, “The Whip” by Karen Kondazian, will be available on Monday. This book is inspired by the true story of a woman, Charlotte “Charley” Parkurst (1812-1879) who lived most of her extraordinary life as a man in the old west. Be sure to pick up a copy at the library and join next month’s discussion.
The North Webster Community Public Library will close early at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 and be closed all day on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25. The library will re-open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.
