Charles N. Trammel
Charles N. Trammel, 72, Columbia City, died at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Dec. 9, 1943 in Fort Wayne a son of the late Donald W. and Margery (Ness) Trammel. His formative years were spent in Fort Wayne. In August of 1961 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he completed his GED. He was honorably discharged December 1965.
On May 23, 1981, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Gloor. They made their home in Fort Wayne.
In 2000, they moved to Columbia City. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and doing household repairs.
He was a career long employee of Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne where he worked on the assembly line. He retired in 2000 with 34 years of service.
He was a member of VFW Post 5582, Columbia City, American Legion Post 160, Roanoke and the 40 & 8 Veterans Organization.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; four children: Larry Trammel, Troy Trammel, Nichol (Ken) Tiley, all of Fort Wayne; and Ronald (Tammy) Trammel, Ossian; three step-children: Russel (Tracey) Johnson, Butler; Michael Todd (Stacy) Johnson, Fort Wayne; and Kimberly K. (James) Barnfield, Yoder; eight grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; a great grandson; a twin brother, Paul Trammel, Fort Wayne; two sisters: Diane Haines, Urbana, Ohio; and Kathleen Wiley, Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Trammel.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is in the Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
