James A. “Jim” Priser, 61, passed away unexpectedly at 1:32 p.m. Oct. 31, 2016, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, while surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 13, 1955, in Warsaw, to James M. and Shirley Harmon Priser. He married Sally Hogan on June 11, 1977, in Warsaw.
He was a 1973 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, and attended classes at Nikon Photography.
A lifetime resident, he was a maintenance supervisor at Dalton Foundries, owner of Lake City Arms and Jim Priser Photography, and was a pioneer for digitizing photography, which included the creation of GIF and JPG files. His photography has been featured in Sports Illustrated, JPL, NASA and Microsoft. He was a brilliant inventor who built and designed computer-controlled machinery and held several patents. He was owner and CEO of Control Technology Inc. from 1983-2006.
He was a member of the NRA; enjoyed photography; computer technology and fishing; loved going to fish fries; was an avid reader; and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Priser, Warsaw; four daughters: Sara (Rich) Larocque, Warsaw; Stacy Priser, Warsaw; Kari (Derek) Flores-Lefranc, Austin, Texas; Michelle (Jason) Stephenson, Milford; two sons: Matthew Priser, Warsaw; and Keith (Heather) Priser, Claypool; ten granchildren; his mother, Shirley Priser, Warsaw; a brother, Jack (Joyce) Priser, Bourbon; his father-in-law, Rex Hogan, Warsaw; and his dog Rufus, his best little buddy.
He was preceded by his father, James M. Priser; and a granddaughter, Madelyn Stephenson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Titus Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Settles of Claypool United Methodist Church Officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
