WARSAW — If you have not yet had an opportunity to visit the Warsaw City Hall Art Exhibitions that are available to the public for free, you really need to think about taking your family each time a new artist and their work is unveiled. The city hall is just across the street from Kosciusko County Courthouse and you can enter off the west parking lot and immediately see part of the exhibit waiting for your viewing.

The next two months we will be featuring Jennifer Caudill, an artist with exquisite perfection in her realistic depictions. Caudill works diligently to create an atmosphere in which the details in her work make you think you can step right into her world. Most of her work is of natural settings, wildlife and the ecology surrounding those animals right here in Indiana.

You will understand her attention to detail when you learn that Caudill received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Manchester University with a concentration on scientific Illustration. Can we say, John James Audubon, the matchless bird illustrator? Don’t judge until you see Caudill’s work. Caudill increased her spectrum once she graduated from college by spending a year in Ecuador with her husband, Jorge Penaherrera. She expanded her repertoire of work to include those jungle studies and paintings to represent the rain forests. Stunning work was the result.

Caudill recently made a shift in her subject matter. Delving into fantasy work, along with our great friend, Robert Hudson, she has begun painting mystical figures such as dragons and gryphons. Caudill explains “Painting a deer from a reference photo has its challenges; leg position may need to be altered, the direction of the light source may have to be flipped…but when it comes to painting a dragon, well now that’s a challenge! Sketching such beings out of thin air is truly an artistic challenge!”

Caudill is currently working with a Fort Wayne author to provide the illustrations for a novel of urban fantasy that they hope to release in the summer of 2017. As a member of the Warsaw Artist Forum and the Fort Wayne Art Guild, Caudill also offers a website where her work can be viewed here.
