NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Community Public Library will commemorate Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, with a free performance by the Tennis Ukes at 10:30 a.m. inside the library. The Tennis Ukes is a group of ladies who play tennis together and also enjoy making music on their ukuleles, hence the name Tennis Ukes. They are part of the larger group Tru Ukes Ukulele Club composed of over 50 people from Indiana and Ohio. The Tennis Ukes have performed at the Syracuse Artisans and Farmers Market, Allen County Library and other venues. The public is invited to have fun with the Tennis Ukes as they play patriotic songs and oldies tunes on their ukuleles.
The kids will have fun at another round of Family Bingo 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, while Wawasee school students have the day off for trimester break. The library had a good turn out over fall break, but still has lots of new prizes to give away. Everyone goes home a winner.
Looking for constructive after school activities for elementary age kids? Bring them to the library every Tuesday at 4 p.m. for Crafts and Stories. While Miss Debbie reads stories, the kids create a fun craft. No registration is needed, but parents are asked to remain in the library while their child participates.
Neither is registration needed to participate in the second Saturday LEGO Club 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. The library has a mountain of LEGOs for the kids to use building their LEGO creations. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child, and children under age nine should be accompanied by an adult.
When the kids whine about being bored, explore TumbleBooks on the library’s website here and find narrated animated storybooks, read-alongs, videos, kids songs, puzzles and games. Early readers to advanced chapter books are available in English, Spanish, and French. They can also be downloaded onto smart phones and mobile devices. Just click on the TumbleBooks icon on the library’s home page for free access to TumbleBooks.
