STEUBEN COUNTY — A Syracuse man is behind bars after a witness stopped the suspect on a stolen motorcycle.
Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff’s office were called to 8290 W. CR 350N for a report of burglary, a statement said.
Officers were told that a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle had been stolen from the garage and was last seen going east.
A family member of the property owner then saw the motorcycle going down a road and forced the motorcyclist to stop.
The man on the motorcycle ran into a wooded area.
Officers searched the area and found the suspect walking in the 4100 N block of County Road 800W, police said.
Police arrested Thomas P. Crago, Jr., 20, of Syracuse, and charged him with burglary and auto theft.
Crago was booked into the Steuben County jail.
A car also seen leaving the area was later found in a nearby field. The car belonged to Crago, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
