In September, 22 Lions representing 8 Lions Clubs in District 25-G (northern Indiana) traveled to San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico and worked with the Lions Club there providing eyeglasses to 3,863 adults and children.

Dr. Rod Kaufman, from Syracuse, was one of the local volunteers.  “We kept very busy.  It was a joy seeing the smiles on the faces of people who were able to see better. Thanks to our community for donating your old usable glasses to help these people in need. I hope to go again.”

Since Lions Clubs International was founded in 1917, Lions have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye health and eye care for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Indeed, sight is one of Lions defining causes. Through professional training, healthcare system development and widespread drug treatment distribution, Lions have gained worldwide recognition for their work to improve sight and prevent blindness.

In just about any home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life. You can drop off your usable eyewear at Lions-sponsored collection boxes.
