NORTH WEBSTER — Get a jump on holiday gift buying at the Friends of the North Webster Community Public Library’s Book Sale Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 27-29. There will be hundreds of quality, gently-used books for sale at low bargain prices. Shoppers will find a large selection of current books by popular authors in all genres including large print and children’s stories. Music CDs, movie DVDs and puzzles will also be for sale. It will be held in the North Webster Community Center, located at 301 N. Main Street, sale hours are 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.- noon Saturday. All proceeds help support the work of the library.
Help solve the untimely deaths of Lord and Lady Westing and buy a ticket to the library’s Murder Mystery Dinner 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5. The library will be transformed into the English estate of the wealthy and influential Lord and Lady Westing. The year is 1935 and Europe and America’s most notorious personalities have been invited to the reading of their will. Be a part of this elegant evening of intrigue and mystery. Tickets are currently on sale for $15 per adult player and include dinner, character assignment, and clues. Tickets can be purchased from Adult Services Director Beth Smith.
There will be plenty of intrigue to see who wins the next bingo round during Family Bingo 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24. Since it is fall break for Wawasee school students, the kids are invited to have fun playing bingo at the library. There are plenty of chances for everyone to win and lots of new prizes to give away.
Earlier that day at 10 a.m., the Voyager Book Club meets to discuss books that take place in Indiana. In this book club, everyone reads a book of their choice within the assigned genre. If you have read a book with an Indiana setting lately, share it at Voyager. Next month the group will be discussing historical fiction.
Revolving Recipe Round Up gets together 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, to share and sample vegetable dishes. If you have a favorite vegetable recipe, prepare it and bring it to share. Don’t forget to bring the recipe to trade with others. The library provides the table service and free coffee. Meeting the fourth Tuesday each month, Revolving Recipe Round-Up is always a fun time of good food and fellowship.
Enjoy a good family movie 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, when the Youth Services Department shows an animated comedy adventure about a city inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Rated PG, the movie is free and so is the popcorn.
Stop by the Check It Out Station at the library and play the Scary Book Contest throughout October. To play, read a scary book, then submit the title and your name and phone number and get entered in the drawing to win a prize. The more books you read, the more chances to win. The drawing will be Nov. 1, so check out some spooky books and prepare to get scared.
