NLC Reveals XC All-Conference
GOSHEN – Warsaw and Northridge peppered the charts in the 2016 Northern Lakes Conference cross country All-Conference teams.
The champion Warsaw girls put four runners on the All-NLC list and another on the Honorable Mention. Champion Mia Beckham, who won the girls race with a time of 19:30 at OxBow, led the undefeated Tigers. Allison Miller, Charlene Orr and Angie Sanchez-Vigil also were All-NLC with teammate Megan Metzger taking Honorable Mention All-NLC. Lady Tigers coach Matt Campbell, in his first year as full-time head coach, was tabbed as Coach of the Year.
Runner-up Northridge (6-1) landed Mackenzie Adams, Mariah King and McKenzie Love with All-NLC honors and Jenna Miller with Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Concord (5-2) had Ally Smith named All-NLC and Summer Cooper and Alexa Porter both tabbed Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Wawasee (4-3) had Elizabeth Zorn take All-NLC and Mckenzie Smith take Honorable Mention All-NLC.
NorthWood (3-4) had Erica Stutsman take All-NLC honors as did Goshen’s (1-6) Ariana Perez-Diener. Elkhart Memorial (2-5) and Plymouth (0-7) did not have a runner make the list.
On the boys side, co-champions Warsaw and Northridge represented a large portion of the lists. Round robin champion Northridge (7-0) had Noah Detwiler, Christian Kauffman and Hunter Moore take spots on the All-NLC list while Austin Clark was named Honorable Mention All-NLC. Raider head coach Ryan McClane was awarded Coach of the Year. Warsaw won the NLC race by six points over Northridge, and had individual champion Zeb Hernandez repeat as race champion with a time of 16:21. Hernandez, Lucas Howett and Xavi Ramirez all made All-NLC while Nathaniel Gottschalk earned Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Concord (5-2) had Salvador Escamilla take All-NLC and Luke Shoemaker named Honorable Mention All-NLC. Goshen’s (4-3) Jason Barahona earned All-NLC.
Wawasee (2-5) finished fourth in the NLC race, and had both Spencer Hare and Luke Griner take All-NLC and Sam Griner take Honorable Mention All-NLC.
NorthWood (0-7) had Emanuel Olvera earn All-NLC and Tyler Evers earn Honorable Mention All-NLC. Plymouth (3-4) and Memorial (1-6) did not have a runner make the list.
