KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Despite forecasted rain, the bicentennial torch relay was a success as it traveled through Kosciusko County this morning, Sept. 29.
The twenty-two lucky torchbearers passed off the torch that will travel through the whole state. Modes of transportation included boats, antique cars and running on foot.
Members of the Indiana Bicentennial Committee noted that the swan paddle boat was one of the most unique modes of transportation they have seen so far on the relay. Committee members were also impressed with the amount of students and residents that cheered on the torch in all the different towns.
The bicentennial celebrations continue with a free concert at the MOCC on Grace College’s campus at 7 p.m. On Friday, Syracuse will be celebrating with a homecoming parade at 4:30 p.m. Warsaw will host a Bicentennial Bash in downtown Warsaw with events for everyone to enjoy.
The fun continues on Saturday with a day full of events at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. A parade will begin at 10 a.m., traveling from Boggs Industrial Park to the fairgrounds. A cruise-in, kid’s activities, inflatables, and competitions will continue throughout the day.
