Jack L. Foster, 84, Columbia City, died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Columbia City a son of Firmer P. and Henrietta M. (Souder) Foster. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School.
On Aug. 18, 1951 he was united in marriage to C. LouAnn Wheeler. They made their home at Loon Lake until after Jack finished construction of their present home in the Summer of 1970.
He began employment with Foster & Son Truck Line, then M.C. Wheeler & Sons before general contracting with W.J. Carey, establishing Jack L. Foster Professional Builders in the mid 1960s, retiring in 1997.
His memberships included First Baptist Church, Happy Valley Skate Club Columbia City Moose, Columbia City B.P.O.E. #1417 and Thursday Night Bowling League.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 65 years, Lou Ann; three children: Kathy S. Foster, Columbia City; Brent L. Foster, New Haven; and Jodi A. (Bill) Tobin, Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons and a sister, Joy Irene Knisely.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at the funeral home.
