Triton Football: Cavaliers Trump Trojans

CULVER — The Triton football team will have to wait at least another week to find the win column. The Trojans traveled to take on Culver Friday evening and left with a 40-26 defeat.
The Trojans trailed 14-3 after the first quarter, but a 34-yard fumble return by Tye Orsund gave Triton its first touchdown. A two-point conversion gave Triton double digit points for only the second time this season. Culver led 27-11 at the half and 33-11 after three.
In the fourth quarter James Snyder hit D’Angelo Shumpert for a 35-yard score with 6:58 to play. That made the score 40-18 in favor of the Cavs. With 3:11 left, Snyder hit Zac Pitney for a 69-yard score to give the Trojans their highest scoring total of the year, 26 points.
Triton (0-5, 0-3) host Winamac (1-4, 1-4) next Friday. Culver moves to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in HNAC competition. The Cavaliers travel to Knox next Friday. Knox enters that game at 3-1 in HNAC play.
