WARSAW — The Repurpose Room, now The Repurpose Room Marketplace, is having their re-opening event 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16-18.
The Buffalo Street business, which celebrated its five year anniversary this past August, is changing the way it operates. Formerly, owners Amie Nelson and Leslie Brown repainted and repurposed furniture and sold it out of their store front. Now, the duo will be operating their store as a marketplace.
Nelson and Brown’s store will feature mostly handmade items from an established list of vendors the duo has met over the past couple years. The change brings a myriad of new items and new lower price points. While the Repurpose Room used to only carry furniture, there will now be items for every occasion.
“Before, if you didn’t need a kitchen table or a dresser there really wasn’t a reason for our store. Now we have things for showers and other occasions, or small gifts. This is the store we always wanted,” says Nelson.
Most of the vendors working with Repurpose Room have never been in a storefront, and Brown and Nelson acknowledge what a blessing it is for the store to be able to showcase people’s pieces for both parties. Using the new vendor items, the store will be able to feature laid out rooms and furniture to give customers a sense of what pieces look like when used.
“I think it’s hard for people to see pieces and know what it will look like in their home. Being able to see everything laid out is so helpful.”
The Repurpose Room will still have their basement and warehouse for customers to purchase unfinished project pieces if interested. Unpainted pieces can be purchased at lower prices than painted furniture.
“Our biggest thing is to have our store be a blessing to other people,” says Nelson.
Nelson and Brown thank their families for all of their support, including grandmother Roberta Bradford and mother Kay Poling who help work the store at any moment.
After the event this weekend, The Repurpose Room Marketplace will announce their upcoming market days.
