WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy volleyball team made it interesting Tuesday night.
The host Cougars took a 2-0 lead before holding on in the end to edge Community Baptist 3-2.
LCA won the marathon match 25-13, 25-9, 21-25, 21-25, 15-7.
Kyla Kohler had a big match for the winners with nine aces, four kills, two digs and 13 assists.
Carlie Wise contributed three aces, eight kills, six digs and two assists for the Cougars. Sydney Hobbs had 10 aces to go with two kills and five digs.
Cami Dahms had a strong match with six aces, six kills, six digs and six assists for LCA. Baylee Wiley had three aces to go with a kill and four digs. Jessica Slone had five kills, three digs, an assist and a block. Nathaly Zapata had an ace and six digs, while Morgan Ziebarth had an ace and Kaitlyn Binegar a dig.
Community Baptist won the junior varsity match 25-17, 25-16.
LCA will play at the Fort Wayne Falcons on Thursday night.
