FORT WAYNE – The TinCaps dropped their 2016 home finale, 5-4, in 10 innings to the Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers) in front of a sellout crowd on Friday night.

With 7,597 people at Parkview Field for the game, Fort Wayne notched its 21st sellout and welcomed a record-setting total of 413,701 this season.

The previous attendance mark of 411,028 set in 2014 included both the regular season and playoffs.

Great Lakes (33-33 second half, 62-74 overall) opened the scoring in the second frame. The Loons took a 2-0 advantage during the fourth inning before Alan Garcia doubled home Taylor Kohlwey in the home half.

After a Logan Landon double in the fifth inning gave Great Lakes a 3-1 lead, Thursday night’s hero Chris Baker launched a two-run home run. Kodie Tidwell scored on Baker’s third big fly of 2016.

The game remained knotted at three apiece until the 10th inning when David Bednar (L, 3-4) ceded two runs.

Fort Wayne (26-41 second half, 62-75 overall) tried to rally back. Baker hit a one-out triple and scored on a wild pitch, but Ivan Vieitez (W, 4-4) shut the door on a comeback.

Though Jake Nix surrendered three runs over 4.2 innings, his 10 strikeouts shattered a previous career high of six.

Joey Lucchesi tossed two scoreless innings during his TinCaps debut. The Padres’ 2016 fourth-round pick worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh frame and stranded two runners in the eighth.

Fort Wayne caps its 2016 season with a three-game road trip at Bowling Green.
