PIERCETON — Eighteen members of the 2016 Kosciusko County Indiana Master Naturalist class met at the property of Dr. Gary Dillon (formerly Girvin Tree Farm) south of Pierceton earlier this month to learn about trees and forestry management. The presentation given by consultant forester Bruce Wakeland, included  a hike through the 200 acres of trees on the farm.

Sponsored by the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), this is the first year a Master Naturalist class has been held in Kosciusko County.  After investigating 12 topics specific to the natural resources of  our county and the State of Indiana during the year and completion of 24 hours of volunteer community service, members will graduate as certified Indiana Master Naturalists.

Anyone interested in upcoming Master Naturalist classes may contact Darci Zolman at Kosciusko Soil and Water Conservation District, (574) 267-7445 ext 118 or check out the Indiana DNR website under the tab “Things To Do”.
