William P. ‘Bill’ Stevens

William P. StevensWilliam “Bill” Stevens passed away at 6:58 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, in IU Health Goshen Hospital, Goshen. He was 85.

Born Dec. 22, 1930, in Warsaw, Bill was the son of Harold and Gladys (Phillips) Stevens. He was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School.

Bill entered the U.S. Air Force April 24, 1951, through Indianapolis, and served during the Korean War. S/Sgt William Paul Stevens was honorably discharged March 30, 1955, through Chanute AFB, Illinois.

Bill and Jean Jennings were married Dec. 31, 1967, in Warsaw. She survives in Milford.

He was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident who was a driver for Cover-All for many years. He was also employed by the Warsaw School System. Bill retired in 1998 from Tom Farms. He was a life member of Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. Post #1126.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Elizabeth (Jay) Dausman, Pierceton; Margaret (Max) Grady, Milford; one son and daughter-in-law: William P. (Deborah) Stevens Jr., Bristol; six grandchildren: Paul (Krista) Dausman, Warsaw; Leigh Anne Jessop, Warsaw; William P. Stevens III, Bristol; Michaela Stevens, Bristol; Jade Grady, Milford; and Allison Stevens, Bristol; four great-grandchildren; and sister: Rowena Womack, Warsaw. Two brothers preceded him in passing: Roger Stevens, Feb. 11, 2010; and Lawrence Stevens, July 11, 1978.

A time of gathering to share memories in support of one another will take place from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, in Titus Funeral Home. A service celebrating Bill’s life begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the funeral home. Pastor E.J. Underwood of Warsaw Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. Post #1126.

The family has asked that gifts in Bill’s memory be directed to IU Health Goshen Home Care and Hospice, Goshen, or to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana, Huntertown.
