Melvin C. Walter, 63, Culver passed away on Friday, July 23, 2016.

Melvin was born  on Nov. 24, 1952 in Laporte. He was one of several children born to Raymond (Pauline Tinkey) Walter who are deceased.

Melvin was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. When he wasn’t on the water or in a tree stand, he could be found outdoors hunting for wild mushrooms of all varieties. Melvin loved Lake Maxinkuckee; he spent countless hours on the lake catching “the big ones” and cursing “the small ones.” Melvin was known around Culver for his zucchini cupcakes, and deer jerky.  He worked in masonry and stone work. His talent can still be seen and lives on throughout town.

Melvin is survived by five children: Tracy Keener, Jeremy Barclay, Raymond Walter, Rose
Walter, Lance Walter; many grandchildren; siblings: Jack, Dawn, Dian, Deb, Pat, and Cheryl;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by many.

Melvin’s wishes were to have no services. Odom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A gofundme account has been established to help the family with expenses: www.gofundme.com/2ggsgr8.
