Dorothy Ann BowmanDorothy Ann “Dot” Bowman, 91, rural Roann, died at 7:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Fort Wayne to Howard D. and Ethel (Trisler) Ulrey Gillespie Frey.

Dorothy married James D. Bowman at the Roann United Methodist Church on Oct. 12, 1945; he died May 16, 2015. Dot was a 1943 graduate of Roann High School. She was a member of Roann United Methodist Church, past president of United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school. Dot was a former member of the Roann Eastern Star. She was a charter member and past president of Happy Homemakers Home Ec Club, and volunteered at the Roann food pantry and the Stockdale Mill. She worked for Dr. Kidd and Dr. Robert LaSalle as a nursing assistant, and was a homemaker. Dot enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, crocheting and knitting, and reading.

She is survived by two children: Jocelyn (Charles) Anderson, Darlington; and James Dean (Susan) Bowman, Crawfordsville; son-in-law: Steve Powell, Roann; 12 grandchildren: Michele Lanko, Mooresville, S.C.; Tracey Powell, Roann; Michael (Trisha) Yentes, Wabash; Trent Powell, Roann; Matthew (Mendy) Yentes, Sharpsville; M.J. (Kristy) Yentes, Spring Hill, Tenn.; Jessica (Dustin) Page, Darlington; Janelle Bowman, Avon; Jordan (Scott) Cheek, Nashville; Jayden Bowman, Crawfordsville; Kyle Kingma, Chicago, Ill.; and Nicole Kingma, Veedersburg; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister: Betty Hilligoss, Columbia City. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Mary Ann Bowman; and Joyce Powell; and sister: Doris Bechtold.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Roann United Methodist Church.
