WARSAW — Pastors and people in the community came together today, July 14, to pray about the distressing events occurring around the country.

Individuals in the community reached out to the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association indicating they thought a prayer service was needed. The GWMA typically holds a prayer gathering in various locations on the second Thursday of each month to pray, however, with the recent incidents reported in the news around the country, people thought a special gathering was appropriate. Ken Locke, GWMA Director, mentioned, “Quite a few people called me to get together to pray.”

The topic of today’s service was directed toward praying for the incidents surrounding the police shootings and racial  divides in the country. As Locke spoke before the prayer service he mentioned the reason he felt they should pray, “He is calling us as believers to look to Him. Our hope is not in Washington D.C., it’s in God,” said Locke.

The group of roughly 30 people were circled around the 9/11 Memorial in Center Lake Park. Locke mentioned that location was chosen because of the significance of the memorial listing the names of officers killed in Kosciusko County, in the wake of officers being killed in other parts of the country.
