WARSAW — Yesterday, Tuesday, July 12, members of the 1983-84 Warsaw boys basketball team met with members of the 2015-16 Warsaw boys basketball team to take a photo by one of the Walk and Wander statues. The statue is a figure of a man reading a replica of a local newspaper, featuring when the 1983-84 team won the state championship.

The 1983-84 Warsaw boys basketball team won the only state championship in program history. The team finished with a record of 26-2, after beating Vincennes Lincoln 59-56 in the state championship game. The team was coached by Al Rhodes, who is in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and is now the boys basketball coach at Penn High School in Mishawaka.

The 2015-16 Warsaw boys basketball team were 25-2 this past season and won the NLC championship at 7-0.
They won the Elkhart Sectional and Michigan City Regional before losing, 40-37, to McCutcheon in the Lafayette Semistate game for Class 4-A. This year’s team was coached by Doug Ogle.
