COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – The TinCaps scored thrice with two outs in the top of the third inning and that proved to be good enough to earn a 3-2 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps on Friday night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

TinCaps (7-9, 43-43) third baseman Carlos Belen hit a two-out double off to left-center field to score shortstop Ruddy Giron for what proved to be a game-winning run. Just before that, Giron drove a single into left that brought in left fielder José Carlos Ureña and center fielder Alan Garcia.

Ureña and Garcia led the frame off against Whitecaps starter Fernando Perez (3-4) with back-to-back singles, while first baseman Nick Vilter put down on a sacrifce bunt to advance the runners to second and third, respectively.

For Belen, it was his team-leading 41st RBI and 18th double.

West Michigan (6-8, 45-36) got their only runs against Fort Wayne starter Thomas Dorminy (W, 2-2) in the second and third. Dorminy went six strong before giving way to reliever Corey Kimber (S, 1) to lock down the final three frames. The TinCaps allowed 10 hits, but defenisvely didn’t commit an error and turned four double plays.

West Michigan and Fort Wayne will battle again at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
