NORTH WEBSTER — From the pages of The Arabian Nights, Stevens Puppets brings the story of Aladdin to life in a fully staged production featuring hand-carved wooden marionettes on Wednesday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Infused with music, mystery, and magic against colorful scenery, this is an enchanting puppet show the whole family will enjoy.

Owned by Dan and Zan Raynor of Bristol, Steven Puppets has been performing fairy tales and children’s literature since 1933. This is a Summer Reading Program event sponsored by the North Webster Community Public Library and open to everyone. Children who are participating in the Summer Reading Program should bring their Reading Passports to get stamped for extra credit toward prizes.

Kids have the opportunity to make stories come alive for Echo the therapy dog when she visits the library for Paws-To-Read on Friday, July 15, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Eight 15-minute reading sessions with Echo are available by appointment only on a first-come, first serve basis. Stop by the Youth Services Desk to sign up or call (574) 834-7122 ext. 202.

No appointment is needed for Make It/Take Craft Day on Friday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children can drop in the Youth Department throughout the day to make a pinwheel spinner craft or take it home to complete.

If your child has not signed up yet for the Summer Reading Program, there is still three weeks left to earn prizes for reading. Don’t delay in getting them involved. Studies have shown that kids who read throughout the summer are better prepared to start school in the fall.

Whenever rainy weather spoils your outdoor plans, remember there are always fun things to do at the library for both kids and adults. Stop in and see what’s here.
