Two Local Artists to Hold Gallery

PIERCETON — Recent works by local oil painting artist Steve Creighton and photography by area photographer Michael Kimble will be featured at Lakeland Art Association’s Gallery Wednesday, June 8 through Saturday, July 2.
Creighton’s oil paintings have won numerous awards including multiple “Best of Show” distinctions and are held by private collectors in states across the U.S. Some of his unique still life and landscape works have been seen as reminiscent of the Dutch masters. Creighton majored in both Art and Business at Valparaiso University and continued his art education with graduate art courses at Indiana University. His studio is in Warsaw.
Michael Kimble, often dubbed “Picture Man” by the people he photographs, will have 20 photographs on display taken in Immokalee, Florida, a dirt poor migrant community. He was drawn to the contrast of the lifestyles of this community with nearby Naples, one of the wealthiest communities in our country. He spent seven years documenting life and social ills of the migrant farming community. His photos have been appeared in numerous publications and have won major awards. He would like to be remembered as a voice and face representing our weakest most vulnerable citizens.
The Gallery’s hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. An artists’ reception will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18. The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.
