SYRACUSE — Upcoming events and programs for Syracuse Public Library.
Adults or Teens Can Win a Movie Night
The Syracuse Library wants to sponsor a movie night with food for a group of readers later this summer. The contest is between two groups of people. One group is people in the thirteen to nineteen age group with readers that can devour a stack of books. The other group of adults consists of more people but with people that generally don’t have as much time to read. Starting May 31, the groups can sign up and begin checking out books; the first group to read 200 books wins the party.
A Fantastic Week
The library is closed to observe Memorial Day and the staff will be in the Syracuse parade.
Tuesday evening begins adult summer programming. Becky Brower is starting the first TravelRama with a slide show about her and Michael’s first cruise. The couple has spent five weeks touring the churches and museums in Northern Italy with art groups from IPFW. The cruise was a way to travel to southern Italy and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia, ending in Barcelona, Spain. This free event is open to anyone interested in touring the Mediterranean, cruising on a small ship, or discovering great art adventures. The other TravelRama presentations are: a personal illustration of Route 66, Disney World Love-fest, and whale experiences around the world.
The Friends meet 10 a.m. Thursday, June 2. June is membership renewal month and officer elections. Projects for the summer will be announced. New members are encouraged to join the group that has been in a period of reorganization under the leadership of President, Mary Hursh.
Geocachers are invited to attend World Wide Flash Mob XIII at 1 p.m. June 4. Participants should arrive early to prepare for the picture. Beginning Geocachers are offered a class to get started that begins at 12 p.m. Experience setting up and finding a cache with volunteers from the friendly Geocaching community. Snacks will be provided so that attendees can visit until 1:30 p.m.
All events are free and open to everyone. Reach the Syracuse Library at (574) 457-3022 for information.
