Plymouth Wins Bremen Sectional

Plymouth SportsBREMEN – Sectional favorite Plymouth added another girls tennis sectional title to its impressive collection Friday night.

The Pilgrims topped the hosts 5-0 in the finale of the Bremen Sectional.

Plymouth, which has now won 15 of the last 16 sectionals and 31 overall, advances to play Rochester Tuesday night in a semifinal match of the Culver Academies Regional. Warsaw will face Manchester in the other semifinal. The regional finale will be contested Wednesday night. Plymouth is the defending regional champion.

The Pilgrims, who are 16-2, won all five matches in straight sets Friday night.

Lanae Singleton led the way for Plymouth with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 1 singles. Ashley Harrell won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and Cortni Cook completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3.

The No. 1 doubles team of McKenzie Scheetz and Kendall Dreibelbis won 6-4, 6-0. The team of Kayla Hoober and Leah Smith completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles for the Pilgrims.

Plymouth adds the sectional title to both the Northern Lakes Conference regular season and league tournament championships this season.
